About this winery
A courageous ‘wine growing archaeology’ project, that speaks of passion. Proprietà Sperino is the realisation of a dream: to restore the important tradition of Lessona wines by recovering the historic cellars to produce a wine with the greatest respect for local tradition. In the ‘seventies, Paolo De Marchi moved to Tuscany where he founded the wine producing estate Isole & Olena, which played a leading role in the rebirth of Chianti Classico. But his desire was to return to his family...

Product notes
After fermentation, the wine rests on its lees for about 18 months, developing depth and texture. It then continues aging in large oak barrels of around 1,500 liters, often oval-shaped and previously used, to refine the tannins without overpowering the wine with oak. The total maturation period in vat, wood, and bottle, extends over several years before release, ensuring harmony and complexity.
Production notes
The wine is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes grown in carefully selected parcels in Lessona. The grapes are hand-harvested, sorted, destemmed, and gently pressed to preserve the purity of the fruit. Fermentation takes place in open wooden vats (tini) or large oak casks using native yeasts, allowing the terroir to fully express itself. The maceration lasts about 26–28 days, with regular punch-downs to extract color, aroma, and fine tannins.
Tasting notes
It shows a deep ruby color with slightly garnet edges. The nose reveals a complex bouquet of red fruits (cherry, raspberry), floral notes of rose, aromatic herbs, spices, and a distinct mineral touch. On the palate, it is structured yet velvety, with bright acidity and remarkable freshness. The finish is long, elegant, and mineral.
