Michaela Morris, May 2020 (Vintage 2016)

Referring to the marly soil and 180-degree exposiure. Tedeschi's Marne 180 is crafted from the estate's hillside vineyards in eastern Valpolicella. Besides the requisite Corvina, Corvione and Rondinella, it includes a handful of lesser-known grape varieties indigenous to the zone - like Negara, Rossignola, Foselina and Croatina. An exuberant Amarone that is youthful and clean, this has aromas of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove and mint which tumble out of the glass then give away to pure dark cherry and sandalwood. Full, rich and luscious, it has smooth, caressing tannins and bright acid to refresh, lingering with plum and dried violet. This epitomises the vibrancy of the 2016 vintage.

Monica Larner, October 2013 (Vintage 2008)

The 2008 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Capitel Monte Olmi exhibits masculine appeal with syrupy tones of dried currant, creme de cassis, resin, tar, pipe tobacco, road pavement, black licorice and dried porcino mushroom. This is a massive wine no matter how you slice it with solid tannins, bright acidity, high alcohol (16%) and huge extraction. It’s built like a tank and will likely last a very long time, slowly gaining in complexity and elegance as it undergoes its cellar evolution. Drink 2015-2028.

Alison Napjus, October 31 (Vintage 2007)

There's a sanguine edge to this firm red, with a streak of minerality underscoring flavors of sour and red cherry, cigar box and red currant, with just a touch of sun-dried tomato. There's a dense weave, yet this is still light-weight and silky on the palate. Best from 2013 through 2027.

Alison Napjus, October 2021 (Vintage 2017)

Richly aromatic on the nose with savory notes of cigar box, ground coffee and smoke, a fragrant thread that transitions on the palate to underscore a pure beam of crème de cassis, damson plum preserve and olive tapenade flavors. This silky red is full-bodied yet harmonious, with fine-grained tannins emerging to firm the finish. Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Rossignola. Drink now through 2030.

Alison Napjus, February 2020 (Vintage 2016)

There's a sense of finesse to this concentrated red, with the fine tannins providing a plush frame for well-knit flavors of ripe red and black currant, wild sage, red licorice and graphite-laced mineral that linger on the mouthwatering finish. Drink now through 2029.

Alison Napjus, August 2019 (Vintage 2015)

This leads off with a waft of bay leaf on the nose, followed by an herbal accent that laces the black raspberry, fig cake and spice box flavors on the palate. A firm, medium- to full-bodied red, this is not a powerhouse, but offers pleasant freshness and expression. Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Rossignola. Drink now through 2025

This opens with aromas of tilled soil, cooking spice and ripe dark fruit. The dense palate delivers raisin, clove and tobacco alongside polished tannins.

Jean Aubry, December 2020 (Vintage 2017)
