Riesling lieu-dit Grafenreben 2013

Bright, gold-tinged yellow. Very complex aromas and flavors of fresh citrus, stone fruits and botanical herbs complicated by sweet lime and chamomile notes. Juicy and multilayered, with a long, tactile, pure finish. This strikes me as one of the better Grafenrebens I have tasted in some time. Although the Grafenburg is a prolongation of the famous Schoenenbourg grand cru, it is characterized by light yellow clay-calcareous soil, while the Schoenenbourg soils are darker and made up of Keuper marl and gypsum, with Muschelkalk, calcaire and Vosges sandstone, so the wines from the two sites couldn’t be more different.
