La fable Ochota Barrels a commencé lors d'un voyage de surf, fin 2000, le long de la côte ouest mexicaine dans un camping-car. Taras et Amber Ochota, après avoir parcouru les plus belles régions viticoles et de surf du monde, ont eu l’idée de faire de beaux vins holistiques chez eux, en Australie du Sud. Diplômé en oenologie de l'Université d'Adélaïde, Taras a développé son savoir-faire dans de nombreux vignobles et caves à travers le monde.

A new wine enters the Ochota Barrels fray from 2020, the criptically named Where's the Pope? Syrah. This comes from younger vines planted in 1996 on the Green Room Grenache vineyard in McLaren Vale. Of course, it's not your run of the mill McLaren Vale Shiraz, it comes with all the perfume, lift and energy that you expect from the wines of Taras and Amber. Prettiness is not a character you would typically use to describe Shiraz from this region, however Taras gets there with a gentle hand, some soft foot-stomping and a short time in old barrels.

It's lively, fresh and super silky to drink. McLaren Vale Shiraz at its most elemental. Delicious stuff.
